You could have seen almost nothing, something like a barely audible sound. The sound of a door opening. You know you were following her from a distance.

You are now looking at eleven photographs bathed in an exhausted light ; dimmed is not the right word. You can see it is a glow that only comes out at night, a glow that is frightened by too much light. A young woman without glory, as I will call her later, answers to her name Emilee. I could have cried out Madeleine or Carlotta, such a dizzying memory.

On the night of the fifth day, I would have seen her wandering out of a building. Then on the seventh, I would have seen her photographing a flower bed, caught up by this yellow at its minimum. I betrayed, voyeur, my presence and in her eyes, two slight flashes of light ; I split in two in her eyes. The flash that captures her in return is the precise moment when the photo brings me back to the world.

Three times, on the beach of Malibu, I went out of the story of getting you out of the Pacific Ocean. I did not turn around and saved you, but will I ever know what was left of it ?

So you came back to life. You have contemplated the city lights, the deserted life, the movie night. You wandered, indifferent to yourself, searching for the slightest palisade to lean your back on, holding your camera firmly between your fingers so that the photo would not be too unstill.
